New beginnings
People skills for tech leaders
A whole year ago, I announced on this very newsletter that I was quitting my cushy tech job to build out my coaching business. In some ways, I have come so far from that moment. In other ways, I’m still at the very beginning.
After taking it extremely slow for most of this year owing to being in rehab to support my chronically ill body, and trying to put business offerings out there to see what stuck and mostly failing, I decided to seek out real support. I joined a business coaching program where I’m learning how to make methodical choices for my business. It has been eye opening and I’m going through a revamp of sorts - and this time folks, I feel more sure, more hopeful.
I’m excited to share with y’all that I’m going to focus on supporting new and aspiring leaders in software engineering, and help them turn the people skills that evoke discomfort into strengths. I’m interested in working with folks that want tobuild highly inclusive and collaborative teams where BIPOC, queer, gender-marginalized, neurodivergent, Disabled & chronically ill folks thrive, excel at the hard conversations, andstop taking the stress of the job home
My updated offerings and website are still a work in progress, meanwhile, here’s what I’m up to.
New & Aspiring Engineering Leaders meetup

I’m starting a monthly meetup for new and aspiring tech leads and engineering managers. I hope this can be a space where you can bravely share your questions and fears, receive support, and also listen and support others in the group. If you are a more experienced leader and interested in this event, you are very welcome to come as well - we are all learners here. I’m reading
Currently I’m reading The Future is Disabled - Love Songs, Prophecies, Mourning Songs by Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha. Leah weaves tales of disabled BIPOC chronically ill neurodivergent queer survival through and beyond the pandemic. This book is a map to our shared futures, and an ode to the work of disability justice activists whose strategies continue to save all of us in trying times.
Care Jar
I’m one of those people who gets very sad when the sun starts disappearing earlier in the day. These days I’m blocking off time earlier in the day to go out side, breathe some fresh air, soak in the light. How will you care for yourself this winter?

I hope you have a chill weekend, and see you in the next post!
