Dear creative,

You are on the path of unfurling into your dream playful thriving creative self 🌻

Something keeps you in place, immovable, stalled, going around in loops.

Perhaps you too feel the world closing in on you, in this capitalist colonial hellscape.

How would it feel to pause, take a breath, zoom out... and from afar, hold a soft lantern up to see what bogs you down?

What if there was a language that grounds you into the earth and our solar system's wisdom on the changes that are unfolding around us, and the possibilities we cannot yet see?

What will be possible when you connect with your birth chart – a cosmic map that has the power to strengthen your decision making, resources and creative flow?

Welcome to my co-creative astrology practice.

πŸ’• Astrology and me

I fell in love with astrology about three years ago β€” I couldn't help myself, even though I had been skeptical for so long. I was raised in a dominant caste South Indian home with rituals, astrology and planetary worship as an integral part of our life. I recognize the immense privilege that came with exposure and belonging within these systems. And, my experience showed me the ways astrology could be used as a tool of social, cultural and familial repression.

In queer spaces in Turtle Island, astrology is a common topic of connection and discussion. It was beautiful to hear about astrology spoken about in ways that were the opposite of my experience β€” in stories of queer folks finding belonging and spirituality in the face of religious rejection. At the same time, I was uncomfortable with swift conclusions that would be pronounced on a person based on one of their signs β€” how could a whole human with a whole chart be summarized in a few words?

I started learning astrology so I could understand the symbolic language that was being spoken around me. When I came in contact with liberatory and creative astrologers who opened me up to the immense capacity for the stars and planets to see and validate our own and collective truths β€” I was struck. Thus began my love story with this symbolic mystical storytelling technology that has been handed down through humans for thousands of years πŸͺ

✨ Who you are:

  • You like astrology but..
    • you do not feel entirely seen in horoscopes for your signs
    • you are put off when you are told what your specifc sign means and it feels wrong for you
  • When you use astrology apps, a bunch of stuff resonates, but..
    • the chart drawing is full of symbols that overwhelm
    • hearing astrologers talk in technical terms feels daunting
    • the descriptions still feel vague and not always applicable to you

AND

  • You would love to:
    • have a felt sense of how your planets and signs show up for you
    • connect with your birth chart intuitively without getting lost in technicalities
    • feel the beauty and power of connecting to your unique cosmic map and be seen and validated in your specific challenges and gifts
    • learn how astrology can be used for practical benefits in your own life

πŸŒ™ The reading

In this 60 minute session, we look at your birth chart together and explore what's present and pressing for you. I translate astrological terminology into rich narratives and visual metaphors that are relatable to you, as well as delve into the astrological details based on your curiosity/prior knowledge.

My reading style is creative and relational β€” which is short for:

You are a sovereign being with agency.

I offer creative insights, questions and guidance based on patterns that I observe in your chart and through our dialogue. I don't provide specific predictions or make your life choices for you.

You bring your expertise on your own life, narratives and thus your own chart, irrespective of astrological knowledge and experience.

I primarily work with tropical whole-sign charts. In addition to your birth chart, we can also talk about your solar return chart β€” which is a chart for your most recent birthday. If you are not familiar with any of these terms, not to worry, we'll talk about that!

I weave my artistic research and practices of poetry, Black and Indigenous feminism, leadership, psychology, neuroscience, coaching, somatics, change theory, liberatory speculative fiction into our divinatory dialogue.

I believe that the spiritual and the practical are not separate from each other. Our dialogue makes space for fun, joy, laughter, anger and tears β€” you in all your human glory and messiness is welcome here 🌈

My first teachers are the moon, mother earth, the birds, flowers and butterflies, the sun, stars and planets of the Milky Way around us.

I am grateful for the love and wisdom of my Tamil grandmothers who introduced me to astrology and sparked my passion for storytelling and mythologies.

I study a mix of astrologies including Hellenistic, embodied, medical, modern, archetypal and evolutionary astrology. I started by studying my own chart after reading Chani Nicholas' excellent book on understanding your Sun, Moon and Rising signs, "You were born for this", and through listening to Embodied Astrology's monthly horoscopes and podcast episodes.

Over the last two years, I have been studying the archives of Ari Felix, Kirah Tabourn, Renee Sills's "Your Chart is a Body" course, and so many more amazing astrologers via 1:1 readings, conversations, clases and podcasts.

I am currently deepening my tarot x astrology reading skills in Thresholds, a 3 month Tarot reading group cohort with Christopher Marmolejo, author of Red Tarot: a guide to decolonial divinatory storytelling.

I'm also a Human Design student and loved taking Kelsey Rose Tort's Human Design for Astrologers course.

Octavia Butler's Parable of the Sower and all of adriennemareebrown's books, podcasts and Emergent Strategy facilitation workshop have shaped and transformed my work so deeply.

Love Letter to the Movement by Sarah Jawaid and Damon Azali-Rojas' at Coaching for Healing, Justice and Liberation, and their Introduction to Liberatory coaching workshop has been a game changer in my move to integrate spirituality and creativity into my relational work and to work outside of the institutions of mainstream coaching.

Worldbuilding studies in classes and 1:1 work with Ari Felix and Ayana Zaire Cotton of Seeda School, in this past year, taught me how to experience creative freedom and joy in unbounded ways by claiming my power and leadership.

To all my teachers, guides and mentors β€” Thank you.
